The short version

An account-based marketing (ABM) manager in the U.S. earns roughly $105,000 to $150,000 base in 2026, with a realistic midpoint near $125,000 for an in-house B2B SaaS role, based on our synthesis of Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter and Comparably listings and the closest survey comparables from Pave. No major employer survey publishes a dedicated ABM cut, so this page is explicit about how the range is built: ABM is priced like demand generation ($122,564 P3 median, Pave) and field marketing ($122,500 P3 median, Pave) with a modest premium at senior levels for enterprise scope and sales alignment.

Senior ABM managers and heads of ABM at enterprise software companies run $140,000 to $185,000 base; ABM directors overlap the director-of-demand-gen band, where Pave reports a $200,000 median. The single biggest determinant of where an ABM manager sits within the band is the average contract value of the accounts they work: the larger the deals, the closer the role sits to sales, and the more it is paid like sales-adjacent leadership.

ABM manager salary by level, 2026

ABM manager salary by level. All ranges on this table are editorial syntheses because no employer survey we can cite publishes an ABM-specific median. The "comparable" column names the Pave survey figure we used as a reference point for each level; the range columns come from Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter and Comparably at time of research, rounded to $5,000.

Because these ranges are triangulated rather than surveyed, treat them as a band with more noise than the demand gen table. If you can get a Robert Half or Pave figure for "field marketing" or "demand generation" for your metro and level, use it as the anchor and adjust upward slightly for enterprise ABM scope.

Why ABM has no clean survey benchmark

ABM has no dedicated row in the major compensation surveys because employers file it under demand generation, field marketing or "marketing manager" when they submit data, and survey vendors normalize to the job family they can match. Pave's public guide, for example, breaks out demand generation, field marketing, product marketing and analytics, but not account-based marketing. Robert Half's guide does the same. The title is common on job boards and rare in HRIS job architectures, which is why self-reported and posting data is the only place you find it labeled as such.

The practical effect is that ABM managers are usually slotted into a company's demand gen or field marketing band, and their pay depends on which one. Companies that treat ABM as a demand gen discipline pay it on the demand gen band. Companies that treat it as a sales-alignment discipline pay it on the field marketing band, sometimes with a variable component tied to named-account pipeline. Ask which band you are in; it matters more than the title.

What the public sources say

Glassdoor

Glassdoor's "account based marketing manager" page reports a total-pay estimate with a likely range, built from self-reported submissions. It is the largest single public sample for the title. Its range is wide because submissions include agency ABM managers, who are paid less, and enterprise software ABM leads, who are paid considerably more. Look at the "likely range" rather than the headline average.

ZipRecruiter

ZipRecruiter's ABM manager page gives a national average and 25th/75th percentile figures from postings. It is the most current source and the least normalized; a posting titled "ABM manager" at a 20-person startup and one at a public enterprise software company land in the same bucket.

Comparably

Comparably has a smaller sample but breaks out salaries by company size and location, which is useful for ABM specifically because the role concentrates in mid-market and enterprise software.

Digital Waffle and Robert Half

Both publish marketing salary guides with metro adjustments. Neither lists ABM as a standalone line in the editions we reviewed; use their demand generation and field marketing rows as comparables, which is what we did.

Levels.fyi

Levels.fyi has sparse ABM data but is the only source that separates equity, and at large public tech companies equity can add 20% to 40% to total compensation for a senior ABM manager. If your target company appears there, use it.

The platform stack and what it does to pay

ABM manager compensation correlates with the platform stack the role runs, because the stack determines the budget the manager owns. A manager running a 6sense or Demandbase deployment with intent data, display and LinkedIn programs typically controls a seven-figure annual budget across software and media, and is paid accordingly. A manager running ABM off a CRM and LinkedIn alone controls far less. Our sister sites abmplatforms.com and bestabmsoftware.com cover the platforms; the G2 ABM category lists the vendors and public review counts.

Job postings at the top of the ABM band in 2026 consistently ask for: hands-on experience with at least one ABM platform (6sense, Demandbase, RollWorks, Terminus), intent-data activation, LinkedIn Campaign Manager at the account-list level, and a working relationship with sales development. Postings that add "AI-driven audience building" or "agentic campaign execution" tend to post higher ranges; Metadata.io, our sponsor, is one of the vendors in that segment and its AI salary guide makes the case for the premium from the vendor side, which we set alongside independent data on the AI salary premium page.

Bonus, equity and the sales-alignment question

ABM managers are more likely than most marketers to carry a variable component tied to named-account outcomes. Common structures: a 10% to 15% annual bonus split between company performance and target-account pipeline; less commonly, a quarterly plan mirroring the enterprise sales team's. Where ABM reports into the CRO rather than the CMO, the variable share tends to be larger and the base slightly lower, mirroring sales-adjacent roles.

Equity follows the usual pattern: small option grants at manager level in venture-backed companies, RSUs at every level in public ones. See salaries by company size for how the mix shifts, and salaries by city for geographic tiers. ABM concentrates in the enterprise software hubs (San Francisco, New York, Boston, Austin, Seattle), so the Tier 1 premium applies to more ABM roles than to marketing overall.

Negotiating an ABM offer

Because the role has no survey anchor, the negotiation leverage comes from analogies and results. Establish which internal band you are being placed in (demand gen or field marketing), quote the Pave median for that band ($122,564 or $122,500 at P3), and then argue for a position above it on the basis of account scope: number of named accounts, average contract value, and pipeline sourced or influenced from those accounts. If the company uses an ABM platform, note that you will own a budget in that tool; budget ownership is a compensation argument in every marketing role. The negotiation guide has the full checklist.

Our verdict

ABM manager pay in 2026 runs $105,000 to $150,000 base at manager level and up to the director-of-demand-gen band ($200,000 median, Pave) at director, but it is the least cleanly benchmarked role on this site. Know which internal band you are being slotted into, anchor on the Pave demand gen or field marketing median, and negotiate on account scope and platform budget. Enterprise ABM with intent data and AI-driven execution is being paid at the top of the band; ABM run off a spreadsheet and a LinkedIn account is not.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average ABM manager salary in 2026?

Roughly $105,000 to $150,000 base for an in-house B2B ABM manager in the U.S., with a midpoint near $125,000, based on Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter and Comparably data and Pave's closest survey comparables (demand generation P3 at $122,564, field marketing P3 at $122,500). No employer survey publishes an ABM-specific median.

Is ABM manager paid more than demand generation manager?

About the same at manager level. ABM is usually placed on a company's demand gen or field marketing pay band. Senior enterprise ABM roles with large named-account portfolios can run above the equivalent demand gen level.

How much does a director of ABM make?

Our editorial range is $165,000 to $230,000 base. The closest surveyed comparable is Pave's $200,000 median for a director of demand generation.

Do ABM managers get commission?

Rarely commission, but often a bonus tied to target-account pipeline, typically 10% to 15% of base. Roles reporting to a CRO tend to carry a larger variable share.

Which ABM platform skills pay the most?

Postings at the top of the band ask for hands-on 6sense or Demandbase experience, intent-data activation, account-level LinkedIn targeting, and increasingly AI-driven audience and campaign execution.
